Meet Venture PT

I’m Toby, the owner of Venture PT, a personal training business that covers the Cirencester area. 

Our aim is to support people in realising the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle. We work with our clients to support them in gaining confidence in accessing the gym and developing a fitness programme that will achieve their fitness and life goals. Alongside the coaching of the fitness programme, we also work to educate our clients about the theory of their fitness programme so that they are informed about the methodology of what we are seeking to achieve together.

We also support our clients in making habitual lifestyle change so that they can maximise the benefits of their fitness programme. This involves understanding your unique situation and exploring the reasons behind your fitness goals, leading to us creating a bespoke programme without you having to sacrifice your favourite foods or stop going out and socialising.

The Journey of Venture PT and Our Philosophy

Despite being a fully qualified personal trainer and having a passion for lifestyle change, functional fitness, and strength and mobility, I haven’t always been into fitness. I know what it’s like to feel intimidated in a gym environment. Like many people I started at the gym for aesthetic purposes, little realising the range of benefits it would provide for my physical and mental health, and later the passion I developed in fitness to make this my successful career as a personal trainer. 

I had an extremely active childhood full of outdoor pursuits and so thought that I could just coast into adulthood presuming my fitness would follow. What started as a feeling of necessity and a chore soon became an act that was an integral part of my weekly routine, and a period in my day that I Iooked forward to as it gave me head space and time to focus on bettering myself. The result of having a regular workout routine was that my mood and energy improved, I had a more positive outlook on life and suddenly it felt good to be me.

Unfortunately, I have experienced a severe medical condition throughout my adult life. This used to involve taking strong medication with many negative side effects. Since devoting my life to health and fitness, I no longer need to take any medication. This experience has given me a true empathy and understanding of where people are at and where they need to get to within their journey. I am in the best condition I have been in for years and have found a true passion for helping others find the same benefits that I have.

Becoming a PT has allowed me to show people the possibilities that fitness can provide. Ultimately it is the success stories that motivate me; seeing my clients have their light bulb moments and reaching the next level of their fitness journey is what makes my business so rewarding.

Performance based psychology

When working with Venture PT, I help you understand where you are within your journey, plotting your life cycle, and helping support and push you where appropriate. Everyone’s journey is different and it is owned by you. In our sessions it is not about the weight, the reps or comparisons, it is about believing in yourself and seeing the gym as the tool to your success.

My approach as your trainer is about using positive reinforcement and encouragement. I will support you in exerting yourself and breaking yourself out of your comfort zone; change never happens within your comfort zone.

It’s not about a short-term fix, it’s about creating habitual life changes.
